El Rey 1360 – KKMO upgrades to BE’s AM-6A transmitter in Seattle

Unequaled high efficiency transmitter delivers crystal-clear signal throughout the Seattle/Tacoma Area

Quincy Illinois, May 7, 2026 — Broadcast Electronics, a global leader in designing and manufacturing broadcast products, including transmitters for AM, FM, HD Radio®, TV and media software has a long history of providing rapid, high-quality service to their customers. Broadcast Engineering Services and their client Sea-Mar Community Health Center worked with Broadcast Electronics to upgrade their station El Rey 1360 with the new BE AM Series – 6kW AM transmitter. The new transmitter went on-air for the first time April 27th, 2026.

El Rey 1360 AM is a Seattle-based Spanish-language AM radio station that brands itself as “La Autoridad en Música Mexicana” (The Authority in Mexican Music) and serves as the official Spanish-language home of the Seattle Sounders FC.

Broadcast Electronics partner, Broadcast Engineering Services and their President Jess Ortega worked closely with El Rey 1360 for planning, installation and commissioning services, and jointly selected the BE AM-6A for providing the best combination of excellent energy efficiency, superior audio performance, ultra-reliable operation and industry leading “customer first” support. The new BE AM 6A was paired with a BE AM-1A transmitter as a back-up and the entire transmitter site was completely rebuilt to restore reliability and performance.

“In addition to the transmitter installation, there was extensive repair work required on the transmit antenna system, the tower crew did a fabulous job. The antenna system was restored to original design/license specifications and the BE transmitter performed perfectly,” said Jess Ortega. “BE’s AM Series transmitters produce superior audio quality, improved coverage and the class E power modules deliver energy efficiency, which substantially lowers overall operational expenses for KKMO.”

“We are excited about our partnership with Jess Ortega and El Rey 1360 and thank them for selecting BE to help deliver their content to listeners in the Seattle area.” said Rich Redmond, CEO of Broadcast Electronics, “The AM Series offers excellent energy efficiency, rock solid reliability and an all-new user interface with HTML-5 web GUI, extensive event logging, programmable time/date power change and powerful SNMPv3 connectivity.”
