Broadcast Electronics Joins DRM Consortium and Demonstrates DRM+ Capabilities at BES Expo 2013, India

January  9,  2013

January 1, 2013, Broadcast Electronics (BE) joined the DRM Consortium in support of progressive DRM digital radio especially in the FM band for the Indian market. BE will display DRM+ capable transmitters at booth 91 in Hall 12A at BES Expo 2013 as cost-effective solutions for India's third phase of FM privatization.

Introduced at IBC 2012, BE’s STX LP Generation II FM transmitter broadcasts a DRM+ signal and an analog FM signal simultaneously through a single transmitter. The company demonstrates this using a DRM+ signal that is 200 kHz offset from the FM signal, showing an FM signal at 97.1 MHz and a DRM+ signal at 97.3 MHz output from a single BE transmitter. Prior to joining the DRM Consortium, BE worked closely with RFmondial and Fraunhofer IIS of Germany to develop DRM+ capabilities. The STX LP Generation II also offers a new integrated digital exciter, improved efficiency, dual exciter options, a new smart redundant controller and much more.

AudioVAULT FleX 2.0 studio automation and Commotion’s full suite of social media and mobile tools will also be on display at booth 91. FleX 2.0 offers a new segue editor for ultimate programming control, an enhanced UI configurator to personalize workspaces by talent, improved efficiency and allows unique screen sharing for multi-talent shows. Commotion offers real-time social tools that redefine the listener experience and brings social back to your website and mobile app.

BE and Technomedia Solutions have supplied systems to independent FM broadcasters in India since the government opened up FM frequencies for private operation. They have supplied studio and/or RF systems to Sun TV Network, Kal Radio Ltd., South Asia Ltd., Sri Puran Ltd, Malar Publications Ltd, Malayala Manorama, Purvy Broadcast Ltd. and other independent broadcasters in India.

BE makes a full line of studio gear and RF transmitters ranging from solid-state 60 W to single-tube 100 kW systems, now in use by stations throughout the world.
