Fall Shows Bring New Ways to Do Radio Using Social Networking, Song Voting and Text Marketing

DJwall

BE will be at the upcoming fall shows with a few new products and some interesting new ways of doing radio.

We just wrapped up an exciting project with interactive developer Local Media that will give broadcasters something to add to their media kits. SMS Campaign Manager includes everything you need to manage mobile text campaigns, from getting mobile subscribers to sending text messages. Be sure to ask us about SMS Campaign Manager for your radio advertisers.

As many of you know, BE also partnered with Local Media on another landmark project that brought you listener "crowdscourcing" and real-time song voting. CrowdControl is one example of how we're combining the immediacy of radio with the mobile interactivity of smartphones, including the iPhone. Another is our new DJ Wall, which aggregates all incoming social communication into a single manageable interface. Whether it be Facebook, Twitter, IM, SMS, or even voicemail, station personnel can now easily manage, respond and log these social interactions.

We will demonstrate these new web interactive tools at the fall shows, along with several exciting AudioVAULT FleX developments. Of course, we also have available units representing our line of AM, FM and HD Radio™ transmitters. Ask us about our feature-packed STX LP low power transmitters and VPe HD Radio technology for getting the most power out of existing transmitters.

BE is at booth 329 at the Radio Show in Chicago and stand 8.C91 at the IBC conference in Amsterdam this month. We'll see you there.

What Your Texting, Tweeting and Facebooking Listeners Wish You Knew!

CrowdControl

We continue to get calls and questions regarding the logistics of introducing song voting and social media into the studio. Broadcasters tell us they want to engage their listeners using these new applications but they're understandably reluctant to give up total programming control. Fortunately, you can give listeners a voice in programming without turning the station over to the public at large. We'll demonstrate how to set programming parameters on our CrowdControl application and how to interact with listeners on iPhones and other mobile devices at the upcoming fall shows. Stop by and see us for a demonstration.

RobertsHow Innovation Happens
By Jim Roberts

Has this happened to you? After using your iPad for a couple days, you fire up the laptop and start poking at the screen to get it to do something. If this has happened to you too, I'm guessing there's a touchscreen laptop in our future.

That's how innovation happens in life, and in radio.

I'm reminded of this time and again as we make the rounds with our new CrowdControl listener-sourced programming application.

As many of you know, CrowdControl snagged a great deal of attention and a Radio World "Cool Stuff" Award at the spring NAB convention in Vegas. It was also a hit at the summer Radio Ink Convergence conference in Silicon Valley. Broadcasters just seem to get it: listeners vote in real-time for their favorite songs using regular social media channels like Twitter and Facebook, and talent interact with them one-on-one or one-on-many through our DJ Wall.

We are told that CrowdControl could be a killer app for radio programming because it takes the guesswork out of playlists... and because it is the ultimate radio experience for today's iPhone-carrying listener. I will be available at the BE booth throughout the show to talk. I'll see you in a few days.

If you're Chicago bound, join Jim Roberts at the Radio Show when he presents Getting Your Arms Around Today's Fast Paced Studio. He will be speaking during the Studio/Production breakout of the Engineering session on Wednesday, September 14, from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m.

FleX
We bet the others don't have a cool segue editor like our AudioVAULT FleX.

AudioVAULT Gets Top Billing, Of Course

AudioVAULT is used by more top 10 U.S. billing stations than any other studio control system, according to BIA/Kelsey's list of top billing stations in 2010 and in 2009.

We can think of at least a dozen reasons why AudioVAULT-run stations dominated the list of top billing stations in the U.S., and we've just added several more reasons with our v10.10 software release. Realistic voicetracks, on-air spontaneity, fast studio navigation, easy audio loops and hooks, personalized screen layouts, the list goes on and on. Stop by our booth at the Radio Show in Chicago or IBC in Amsterdam and see for yourself why AudioVAULT is a top biller.
