In 1977, then BE president Larry Cervon moved the company from its start-up location in Silver Spring, MD to Quincy, IL. He was president of BE from 1976 to 1991, taking BE from an upstart company to a corporation that is today the largest radio-only broadcast equipment manufacturer in the world.

On July 5, 2008, Larry passed away at his home in Laurel, New York. Cervon is being remembered for his leadership role at BE and in the industry as a whole.
